Grinding Gear Games has shared another round of changes coming in next week’s mid-patch update for Path of Exile 2. And yes, it includes the long-awaited ability to respec your Ascendancy class!

While more updates are still being finalized, here is a quick breakdown of the biggest confirmed changes so far.

You Can Finally Respec Ascendancy – Here Is How

This has been one of the most requested features since early access launch. GGG is adding a way to switch Ascendancy classes, but with some effort required.

  • You must have zero points allocated in your current Ascendancy.
  • Redoing an Ascendancy Trial now lets you respec your class if it grants enough points to match your current progress.
  • You can now open the respec window at Balbala or the Trialmaster near the Ascension device.

Some requirements are also being lowered:

  • 4-point Ultimatums (7 chambers) can now be done from Level 55 (was 60).
  • 6-point Ultimatums (10 chambers) can now be done from Level 65 (was 75).

We can expect these changes to land in the next restart patch, likely mid next week.

Endgame Map Fixes

Tower and Hideout maps were bugged and not spawning Rare monsters needed for clear completion, which also blocked the bonus map drop tied to those kills. This is being fixed:

  • Additional Rare monsters will be added to both maps.
  • Bonus map drops will now properly trigger when the final Rare is killed.

Crafting and Rune Drops

GGG is making Rune drops smarter as you level:

  • Lower-tier runes are removed from the drop pool once you unlock higher tiers.
  • Drop rates are being adjusted to make sure that rune density still feels rewarding.

Also:

  • Scepters will now get socket support.
  • Talisman mods for Scepters are being added, improving minion-focused builds in mid-to-late game.

Totem Survivability Buffed

Endgame Totems have been struggling to survive. The patch will give them a much-needed durability boost:

  • Totems gain elemental resistances starting at gem Level 15, scaling up to 75% at Level 20.
  • The Ironwood support gem will now also grant maximum elemental resistance.

Shard Scavenger Just Got Better

Shard Scavenger was underperforming, so it is being upgraded:

  • Now restores 1 grenade cooldown use.
  • Also grants a 2-second buff that stops Crossbow Attacks from consuming bolts.

Gemcutting Tab Gets Quality-of-Life Update

Tired of hunting for off-class gems? You are not alone.

A new tab in the Gemcutting window now shows all gems you have equipped, making it easier to track and level them, especially across different classes.

More Changes Coming

This list only includes confirmed changes for next week’s patch. GGG made it clear that more updates are still in progress based on player reports and internal testing.
