The Best Way to Farm Gold

Gold has always been a part of Path of Exile, but in PoE2, its role has shifted. It is now primarily used for transactions with NPC vendors and respeccing passive skill points (which, let’s face it, can get expensive fast). While it is not as important as Orbs or crafting materials, a good way to get Gold can make your life a whole lot easier!

The Basics of Gold Farming

Gold drops from monsters, chests, quest rewards, and trades with vendors. As you progress, you will notice rare and elite enemies drop more Gold than regular ones, and interacting with chests or smashing barrels can add to your stash. Early quests also reward Gold, providing a decent start if you are a new player.

Sell Your Loot:
Selling items you do not need is one of the most straightforward ways to get Gold. Focus on rare or high-quality gear, which can be sold for better prices than common items. Do not pick up everything! You will just end up wasting time sorting through junk and unwanted or non-valuable items. Instead, prioritize rare equipment, currency items, or anything with good resale value.

Tip: Keep items with quality or good sockets for salvaging. This way, you gain crafting materials while farming Gold.

Efficient Gold Farming Techniques

Speed Clearing for Gold

Speed is your friend when it comes to farming Gold. Equip movement speed gear and use area-of-effect (AoE) skills to clear maps quickly. The faster you clear maps, the more loot you can sell, and the more Gold you earn.

Here are a few quick tips:

• Identify Items Before Selling: Items with higher quality or rarity bring in more Gold, so identify them before selling!
• Use Transmutation or Augmentation Orbs: If you have extra, use them to upgrade items before selling as they will get you higher prices.

Choose the Right Build

Builds that are especially good at speed clearing and AoE damage are perfect for farming Gold. Melee or ranged builds with high mobility work great for rushing through enemies quickly. Summoner builds are also excellent in areas with dense mobs, as minions handle the heavy lifting while you loot.

Oswald is an NPC located in the Ziggurat Encampment in Act 3. Make sure you sell the idols before progressing too far, as he will disappear after the portal to the past opens.

Map Crafting for Gold

In the Atlas of Worlds, you can use Waystones to craft maps with modifiers that improve Gold or loot drops. Focus on modifiers like:

• Increased Gold Found
• Increased Item Rarity
• More Rare Chests

Ideally, you should target maps with bosses, because they often drop larger sums of Gold and valuable loot.

Group Farming

Farming with a party can significantly increase efficiency. Coordinated runs allow you to clear maps much faster, and shared or multiplied Gold drops can make group farming especially lucrative in high-density maps.
