Path of Building – Passive Skill Tree

You can find an optimized Path of Building here. Every build I release will use the community fork of Path of Building, which is maintained and updated in a much more regular fashion than the original one. You can find PoB’s Fork, by LocalIdentity, here.

If you are not comfortable with Path of Building, you can check the link in PobbIn. However, we heavily advise you to use Path of Building for which we have a Path of Building Guide

Awakened Gems

A lot of gems nowadays in Path of Exile have Awakened versions. These version will generally be a lot more powerful than the widely available Regular versions. Therefore the should be purchased whenever you can afford them. When the gems listed down here mention Awakened Gems, you are supposed to use their regular versions until you can afford the upgrade.

For most people, leveling these Gems up takes way too much time so you’re generally offered two choices.

  • You can just buy a leveled version.
  • You can buy the Wild Brambleback beasts and use the Menagerie craft to upgrade Increase the level of non-Corrupted Awakened Gem by 1.

Gem Links

Freezing Pulse Freezing Pulse – Main Link (6-Link)

As you notice, this build runs a couple of Awakened Gems. While they’re definitely a nice thing to have, they’re not required whatsoever and you’ll do completely fine with regular versions.

  1. Freezing Pulse Freezing Pulse (21/20 ideally!)
  2. Awakened Added Cold Damage Support Awakened Added Cold Damage Support
  3. Hypothermia Support Hypothermia Support
  4. Multiple Totems Support Multiple Totems Support
  5. Awakened Cold Penetration Support Awakened Cold Penetration Support
  6. Increased Critical Damage Support Increased Critical Damage Support

Making Use of Bonechill

The build is running an Arcanist Brand to proc Creeping Frost Creeping Frost and Bonechill! Since Creeping Frost will chill whatever it hits, Bonechill will apply an “Increased Damage Taken” modifier to the target equal to the Chill Effect it is under effect by. This effectively is a 12% more Damage multiplier and as such beats even cursing the boss. Bonechill Support Bonechill Support is one of the most underused utility supports in the game but we didn’t forget about it! You link the Arcanist Brand to a Sniper’s Mark to make use of your Anoint as your second curse.

  1. Arcanist Brand Arcanist Brand
  2. Sniper's Mark Sniper's Mark
  3. Creeping Frost Creeping Frost
  4. Bonechill Support Bonechill Support

Movement Skill

I chose to use Flame Dash Flame Dash as the preferred movement skill, mainly because you’re investing into Cast Speed. We’re also using a Frost Bomb Frost Bomb here to Apply Exposure to Bosses. Just drop one on a boss and you’re golden.

  1. Flame Dash Flame Dash
  2. Arcane Surge Support Arcane Surge Support (L7)
  3. Frost Bomb Frost Bomb

You could drop the Frost Bomb if you get Exposure Implicit Influence on Gloves

Cast when Damage Taken Setup

For obvious reasons, we’re also running a fairly high Cast when Damage Taken to proc a high level Steelskin Steelskin. While you could opt to manually cast it, I generally don’t think it’s very feasible to predict incoming damage well enough to do so. Since you’re linking the Steelskin to an Increased Duration support, we might as well link our Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire here to maximize the efficiency of this duration support. Make sure the Vaal Righteous Fire doesn’t get triggered by CwDT.

  1. Steelskin Steelskin (level 19)
  2. Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support (level 18)
  3. Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support
  4. Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire (don’t use normal RF only use Vaal RF for burst damage)

Auras

  1. Eternal Blessing Support Eternal Blessing Support
  2. Zealotry Zealotry
